He must become greater; I must become less. John 3:30

John the Baptist knew who he was and how important his job was. But he also knew that in comparison to the Messiah, he must decrease. Do you decrease every day so that your Lord may increase in you? Are your desires secondary to His desires? Are your desires becoming His desires?

John said, "A man can receive only what is given him from heaven." John 3:27. As much as you think differently, everything you are has been given to you. Your possessions, your talents, your personality...they are not really yours. Every part of who you are is a gift from God. Your spiritual gifts are all given to you by God to be used for His purposes, and not for self-adoration or self-promotion. As great a prophet that John the Baptist was, in Acts 13:25, he said "Who do you suppose I am? I am not the one you are looking for. But there is one coming after me whose sandals I am not worthy to untie".

So why do you and I spend so much time serving ourselves and worrying about our egos? Should we really be asserting our pride as the world tells us we should? Do away with that philosophy which is just a wide-spread lie from our adversary. Be humble, for everything about you has been given to you from heaven. The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground. Psalm 147:6. The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished. Proverbs 16:5.

Remember...You must decrease so He can increase! Your life must become "His life"...in you. This can only happen through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Ask Him to come into your heart and life today!

Insight: Let's see if we can really start thinking about it...while being totally honest with ourselves. Throughout the day lets ask ourselves in our own hearts and minds in whatever situation we find ourselves. Who am I trying to glorify?

Prayer: Dear Lord, Please increase Yourself in my life, and decrease myself. I want to live for you! In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
