PostSubject: Whats it worth ???   Wed Jan 25, 2012 1:01 am

Hello ya'll. I got more insurance on my 58 being restored today. I was asked by my agent whats its worth. I told her I didnt know but I have to have at least insured at what I had in the car and for the restore as of now. I went to NADA And Kelly Blue book, neither one go back that far. Has anyone else had an appraisal for a 582DRHT that was completed with frame off restore ? I dont want to be under insured. Thanks in advance..Charlie and Jane...

Hagerdy or something like that...Iwas using nationwide but they suggested Hagerty cause they specialize in older classic cars. I have unlimited miles and windshield and towing coverage also.

Hey Charlie, That car I sold you is a 57, not 58. Make sure you insure it correctly as well as the values between 57 and 58 are very different. Grundy Worldwide appears to offer the best coverage IMO.

Im sure they caught that with the VIN number already. I have been fighting with them over coverage prices. Their agent who researched the car said its only worth 29 grand ! I told him let me know when he finds one completely restored for that price and I will buy 3 of them on the spot !!! The phone was silent for a few minutes. So needless to say I finally got the coverage I needed and still have some room for upping it as the restore is further along.

Charlie, I have heard nothing but good from other members of the 300 club when placing a claim with Hagerty. I woulod not hesitate to use them. As to current value, it dsepends on the current state of your car.

'57 and '58 Plymouths are grouped together with basically the same value for the same body styles in either, according to Old Cars pricing guide, and N.A.D.A. old car price guide, two of the publications that insurers use to determine value.

I used Grundy and I have a "agreed value" policy. I stated how much I thought the car was worth and insured it for that amount. I put 50k on my Plymouth I suppose that might be enough I hope I never half to find out. Very Happy

I used to Have Hagerty , but they kept going up on their premium every year, so I went with Grundy.

Most of the guys that race cars ect don't tell them, but I told them I raced the 58 so first off they said we could not cover it. I sure don't want to have a problem after an Accident . Weel I told them that I have Hagerty now and they knew I raced it and they covered me. Only thing they would not cover me going down the track Hee! Hee! Hell any fifth grader woujld know that. I said I guesss I will just have to renue with Haggertry, Spo of course they said we will see what we can do, I told them not to wait to long. So to make a long story shorter I had to sing a bunch of papers and so on. It will be covered at the track in case somebody bumped into me. Only thing it will not be covered after I leave the staging lane down the quarter mile, themn it will be covered going through the pits and so on.

Smile My car is considered Modified , I wonder why Hee! Hee! Now Eva;s 65 came out with a 361 , but it has a 440 in it and we worked out the HP was not over 50 HP more then stock So the Insurance on heres onlyh cost about 1/3 as much as the 58. Smile
