For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” 1 Corinthians 15:53-54

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fanny_Crosby

Fanny Crosby, blinded since infancy, wrote songs from a heart joyously anticipating her future. She didn’t allow herself to focus on her misfortunes and dependencies. She considered life a privilege and thanked God for her blindness. She was even quoted as saying this amazing statement, “If I had been given a choice at birth, I would have asked to be blind, for when I get to heaven, the first face I see will be the One who died for me.”

Her blindness affected her physical sight only. When she lifted her spiritual eyes towards heaven, she was blessed with the all-encompassing light of Jesus Christ, revealing His love, provision, and perfect peace. She had heaven’s portals in clear view with a continual focus on her eternal home. She was comforted in the knowledge that the her mortality in this world was not the end of life—it signified the beginning of immortality. This kept Fanny focused and her heart continually worshiping her heavenly Father-God through Jesus Christ the Son. This was her passion, her zeal, her drive to run the race to its finish—and that she did!

Insight: What the world considered a curse and a handicap, Fanny Crosby's life ended up being a future blessing to countless believers and a blessed future for Fanny; eternal life with God.

Reader's Prayer: Dear God, Help me to have the passsion, the zeal and drive to run the Christian race...to it's finish. My focus needs to be on You! In Jesus' Name, Amen

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
1 John 5:11-12 cheers

Wow, that's a great story. Good for Fanny!

I can't even imagine myself being blind...
But if I was, I would want to be like Fanny; how Fanny lived life to the fullest, and kept God the #1 purpose in her life.
Let Fanny's story be of an inspiration to others; to live life to the fullest and to keep God the #1 purpose in life, no matter what handicaps, etc., get in the way. Very Happy

You said it Jackie...Fanny Crosby could have easily focused on the fact that she was blind and had a terrible disability. She could have easily focused on what she didn't have. Instead, she focused on what she did have. She was given great gifts from God and made the choice to use them to His glory. She gave her life to the Lord as an American mission worker, poet, lyricist, and composer. In fact, she was one of the most prolific hymnists in history, writing over 8,000 hymns and gospel songs that are still in use today. What a different place the world would be if people focused on their God-given gifts to use them for His glory...and when they got out of bed in the morning they would immediately think "what can I do for my Creator today?" This too is a great reminder for me as I rarely get out of bed and think this way...

Hmmm...Bob

All very true.
Yes, the world sure would be different if people focused a lot more on God. The world would be a whole lot better place to live as well. Very Happy
