I thought I'd put up one of my signals in the garage instead of having it just sit in the corner in pieces. That's cool. Where did you find that?

Does it work? Or is it just suited for decoration? Either way, it looks cool. Smile

I actually found them about 25-30 miles from my house. A friend of mine told me that he spotted a railroad signal in a guys yard while he was traveling to work, he had known about it for about a year but forgot to mention it. When we finally went to go have a look, I spotted not one but two of these signals! After looking for a moment, I knocked on the guys front door and he eventually answered. I asked him if he would be interested in selling one of the signals and he replied that since I had the courage to come to the front door and inquire about the signals, he would be willing to let them go, so I bought the pair! Funny thing is, this was the exact type of signal I was looking for but figured I would never find one so I settled on a standard signal that I purchased from a guy in Wisconsin a year earlier. If only I had known!

Thanks Jackie, I have all the components to make it functional but at the moment it's just for decoration. All the guts were missing, including the stop sign but I was fortunate in finding the parts as they are about as rare as Plymouth parts!

You're welcome Chris. That would be really cool if you could make it functional. Like when you're pulling up into your driveway, and then the railroad crossing sign starts going off. That would be so cool I think. Cool But as I think its cool, on the other hand, it may drive all of the neighbors crazy after a while of that! LOL! Laughing

You are very fortunate to find them so close and in good shape.  I'm going to keep my eyes open for items like this for the "ManCave"!!!

I have this one out front but it's not as interesting in my opinion.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Very cool Chris! Its good to see it up! I now get an idea of how big these things really are. I also think you should make this functional. Its just too cool not to.. Smile

Well I decided to play around with the Griswold a little more....

No guts....[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

And wa la! Guts!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Man I forgot how heavy this stuff was! Very awkward trying to hold up the mechanism and thread the bolts. The only thing I don't have is an original terminal block for this one but that's not necessary to make this functional.

This is what my other one looks like inside...[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
