PostSubject: The "Holiday Season" Begins!   Sat Dec 10, 2016 3:53 pm

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:18-21

During December, most people do not think of the coming of Christ as the heart of Christmas. At best, the “holiday season” is associated with Santa Claus, Christmas trees, house decorations and gift giving. Sometimes it’s hard to concentrate over the sounds of office party laughter, Christmas movies, TV commercials and traffic jams. Things certainly have moved a long way from that first Christmas night, haven’t they?

But even surrounded by all the noise and hype, we can...if we try, in the quietness of God's Spirit, hear His small voice. Even as Joseph listened so long ago when the angel of the Lord told him to take Mary as his wife, that she would bring forth a Son, Jesus, conceived of the Holy Spirit and that He would save His people from their sins. In your quiet time, listen as God calls you to His Son Jesus.

Insight: Jesus brings hope and healing to our lives. He brings salvation and eternal life to those who trust in Him as their Lord and Savior. Set aside those things that take you away from Him. Even as you celebrate with loved ones, in your heart, kneel before Jesus, the One whom the celebrations are all about.
Reader's Prayer, Dear God, Thank you for Jesus the author and finisher of my faith. May I honor You this "holiday season" by wishing my friends and family a Merry Christmas and perhaps even taking it a little further to explain why He came to earth. In Jesus' Name, Amen

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
1 John 5:11-12 cheers

Your so right Bob. Another of the politically correct mind sets we can do away with. Spot on! Smile
