PostSubject: Big M's '56 Baby 'Bird   Tue Mar 06, 2012 8:08 pm

I bought this car a couple years back when I learned of it from a friend in San Diego. The owner of the car had passed away some years back, she had left the car to her children, neither of which wanted the car, and they pushed it from the garage into the backyard where it set for several years.

After getting it back here, I unseized the 312 engine and got it to run, repaired the brakes, and cleaned the car out thoroughly. After running a buffer over the old paint, the car looked much better. I found a set of skirts the same color, as well as the correct air cleaner, as it was missing. I drove it around most of last summer with the hardtop removed, it was fun- fun, but hardly comfortable for a guy over 6 feet tall. I elected to sell it recently, and the buyer was a car designer for GM back in the sixties. Neat guy!! Figured I'd post these up before the 'bird has flown!

Bob, I like the styling of these cars, but practicality is not there. Especially for tall guys like myself they are very uncomfortable to drive.
